Tarot, is a procession of triumph. I have arranged the cards of the Rider Waite deck, in a circular formation to demonstrate the cyclic wheel:

I will explain the associations as we move around the wheel, but these correlations are not set in stone, they can certainly be customized by each respective cultist. This serves as an example, to demonstrate the archetypes and allegories which represent the metaphors within the Cult of Cthulhu paradigm.

0 - The Fool

Cult association:

Azathoth

The blind idiot god, and nuclear chaos. At the beginning of the cycle, this represents the frenzy, and delirium of of a start. The folly of a foolish undertaking, seemingly unwise, lacking intelligence, but needed none-the-less. Aimless adventure, perhaps even superficial. In the 5th century, a bag of plated coin (for show), was referred to as follis, this is where the term fool is derived from by 12th century. Azathoth, as the blind idiot god, is the fiber of the universe but not yet formed into decisive thing. The demon-sultan, must begin the cycle beckoned by drums and flutes to bubble, and begin the formation.

I - Magician

Cult association:

Abdul AlHazred

The insanity, skill of occult methods, rooted in confidence to perform, but loss and destruction. The Magi, work meticulously with skill to derange the mind. In order to break habits, deconstruct that which is essentially holding us back, we must work earnestly, and with diplomacy to create mania. Fanaticism, is essential in order to propel forward along the wheel.

II High Priestess

Cult association:

Yog-Sothoth

The mystery of the gate, not yet revealed. Wisdom, science, magic represented in yog-sothery. It is here that the secrets are held by the keeper of the gate. Though, their keys are not near their locks. Spheres glowing with possibility, knowledge not yet applied.

III Empress

Cult association:

Shub-Niggurath

The quest, initiation, action taken in lieu of ignorance to seek even more knowledge than held before. The ram, bucking against falsehood and disinformation. Absorption, fertility, and birth of a thousand truths. Through the deep roots, trees of knowledge form to be used to cycle through to the acquisition of power.

IV Emperor

Cult association:

Tsathoggua

Control, reasoning, conviction, aid, protection, and power. The toad-like gargoyle created by the Atlantean High-Priest Klarkosh'ton mentioned in the Pnakotic and Necronomicon scripts recorded by madmen. This iconic earth-dweller, can force the current of the the Fool's journey with its hundreds of rudimentary feet.

V Hierophant

Cult association:

Ipsissimus, Venger As'Nas Satanis

The flow, inspiration, alliance, and captivator. The Netzach Sephirah on the Kabbalistic Tree of Knowledge on the pillar of Mercy. Tactical effort to change the Will current. Self-discipline instituted to user man towards becoming. The organizer of religion. Zealous devotion to one's task.

VI Lovers

Cult association:

The Fellowship

Group trials, Love Under Will, Law of Attraction, fellowship, and the supporting structure of the cult. For there can be no cult, without cultists. Collaboration, and collective Work.

VII Chariot

Cult association:

Miskatonic University/Providence

The symbolic university to acquire the ammunition required to achieve Providence, willful intervention to corrupt habit and mechanized process. Miskatonic study is the pathway to triumph. The harbinger of Occult study, and future-casting (knowledge of the future).

VIII Strength

Cult association:

Nyogtha

Mother Hydra, power, energy, action, courage and magnanimity. The shapeless mass, which will take form as it is needed to take control. Considered to be one of Nyarlathotep's avatars, the thing that should not be - is. As you cycle around the wheel, there may be times when you must invoke the hydra. Cut off its head, and two grow in its place. Absorbing the intelligence of the mind-to-mind exchange. Vampiric in nature, taking what it can, when it can, to move along the wheel to the 9th position.

IX Hermit

Cult association:

Shuggoth

Corruption, dissimulation, the rogue. There may be times when you must commit treason against the system, the appointed leader of your world. Even if that leader, is YOU. If you find yourself assimilated into the machine, you must rage against it. Be not the slave, but instead rise against your master. Do not remain the rogue, instead use this position as the power to forge your will to succeed in your task.

X The Wheel

Cult association:

Awakening

Mid-cycle, you should experience a success in your ability to awaken. The continued Work, is remaining awake vs. falling once again to a sleeping, mechanized, and automated state. Fortune and felicity while momentary, can be prolonged with tactics which foster awakening. Remembering, self-observation and continuous Super-effort, will serve you well in the cycles of being.

XII Hanged Man

Cult association:

The Cult of Cthulhu

Represents the Modus Operandi and Ontological study of the self. Discernment, intuition, divination, circumspection and willful sacrifice. Working the cult paradigm, the cultist may find ways to remain conscious rather than slipping into states of unconsciousness.

XIII Death

Cult association:

Internal Alchemy

Contentment leads to stagnation. You must once again corrupt your state of being, destroy the stagnation by transmuting it into something corrosive, an end to current state, to compel action to becoming even more than you are presently.

XIV Temperance

Cult association:

Atlach'Nacha

Management, moderation, and accommodation. The great weaver, spider woman, who builds bridges between the dreamland and waking world. She dwells on the Tree of Death, waiting to smite those who do not seek to create. She controls the arachnids, working with the Magi in exchange for Arcane knowledge. Devotees to her work to create the Philosopher's Stone. Atlach'Nacha's task is never-ending, nor should your task to be creator and bridging gaps in your own personal development.

XV Devil

Cult association:

Cthulhu

Dead, but dreaming. Cthulhu is the harbinger of force, super-effort, fatality and evil. For that which is good to one, may be an evil to you. Your sleeper within, cries out to be awakened from its slumber with a vengeful force to move about the cyclic wheel towards becoming.

XVI Tower

Cult association:

R'lyeh

Your emerald kingdom. The architecture of your design, rooted in adversity and calamity. You must struggle to raise R'lyeh from the depths of the ocean. This is no easy task, for there Cthulhu waits...dead but dreaming. Awakening your sleeper within, means to also raise the city of chaos. The green flame beacons from the depths of the mental dimension. For when it rises, all reality perceived or believed will change.

XVII Star

Cult association:

Polaris

The glaring eye, watching, observing, peering down when you seek privation and abandonment. The all seeing eye, when you wish to hide and give up on your task. We all have moments of frustration, and deviation from the plan when it gets too hard as an avoidance tactic. Polaris is there to keep your aim on your target. You are nearing the end of the cyclic wheel, to give up now would only be a reset. You start again, having acquired nothing, no becoming and the eye weeps. Instead, allow the glare to cause you discomfort and serve as a reminder that YOU should be watching yourself.

XVIII Moon

Cult association:

Nyarlathotep

The hidden enemy, terror, darkness and deception. Nyarlathotep will use insanity to provoke you and move you with his ancient sorcery. You are nearing the end of your Fool's journey, do not allow the hidden enemy to deviate you from your course, leading you further and further away from your goals. Let Nyarlathotep, be the reminder that there is something hidden within you, which could give cause to begin the journey again, and acquire nothing, become no more than you are at this moment.

XIX Sun

Cult association:

Suffering

Materialism, contentment and marriage of ideas. You could work hard each day, but if you are not putting forth a super-effort, you may have been lulling yourself back to sleep by the time you reach the 19th position on your journey. The key is to enact willful suffering, as a means to an end. Otherwise, you have married materialism once more, in such a way, that it takes you completely off course. Acquiring material goods in this lifetime is a strong desire, as is a complete focus on materialist views but may not be indicative to becoming more than you are at this moment.

XX Judgement

Cult association:

Hastur

Judgement, a change of position and transition; Hastur can not stay. The yellow sign is present, the sigil of change is constant. You are at the end of your journey, heading towards the 21st and final position in the cycle. You may have suffered willfully, to achieve your immediate needs and desires, but there is a long term goal in mind, you will never be finished with this task; thus Hastur can not stay.

XXI World

Cult association:

Reality

You have reached the final position, have you become something more? Better or worse? How has this altered your reality? Before taking a step towards the Fool once more, you should be able to recognize attributes of autonomy, power and self-deification.

The wheel turns again, as you step off the 21st position and start again at 0.

The relationship between Satanism and the Cthulhu Mythos.

In the simplest of terms, the deepest connection between Satanism and the Cthulhu mythos, is the ability of the cultist to create his reality, or divine kingdom. All the imaginary barriers of social constructs stripped away, one has the freedom to explore all fields of knowledge void of any societal views of ethics and morality. The cultist follows his own moral compass. The word ‘Taboo’ falls into the abyss as another archaic idea, the word may surface on the tide once again, but with new meaning to the cultist because he has the power and the authority to re-define it for his own life.

Praxis of the wisdom gained through his explorations, he is truly God of his domain, and his legacy is the impact his presence has on the world, whilst he exists. The cultist forces change, when there is stagnation. The cultist pushes the envelope, and sacrifices the sleeple to their own devices; the delusions they keep close to their hearts – that leads them no where and promises them everything. The cultist has the wisdom to find wolves among the flock, and create legions of hideous fanged creatures that will awaken the Old Ones; those that live within the dark corners of our minds, ready at a moments notice to manifest horrid dreams in the living world. The cultist lives by tooth and claw!

The cultist is the adversary, and opposes any and all things that attempt to sway him from his goals. He will not be assimilated into the sleep machine, he will awaken. He is of the few that see with the eyes of ‘The One’ in this matrix-esque existence. The Cthulhu Mythos is applied as a way to manifest his imagination into a reality; it serves as a story to be continued by the Satanist. What Lovecraft began, the Satanist will finish. Each cultist serves as a chapter, in an epic saga of an unquenchable thirst for power, acknowledgement, and absolute sovereignty of his own life. It is his birthright! Each time the cultist is told ‘Can’t’, ‘Shouldn’t’ or ‘Don’t’ it’s an act of war!

“Those that say thou shalt not, is my mortal foe!”
-Anton Lavey

The Cthulhu Mythos is a means to an end, the journey is dark, and slimy but our tentacles long and our end reachable!

The newcomer may feel confused, or need direction on where to begin. Here are some recommendations:

1. Read the Cthulhu Cult Bible, the first book. If you contact Venger Satanis, he is willing to email a free PDF of this work, but you can also obtain a hard copy from Lulu.HERE

2. Read LIBER A:O, the second book. This is available for free download through Lulu: HERE The hardcopy is also available.

3. If you are unfamiliar with what has been coined the Cthulhu Mythos, I strongly recommend that you obtain a copy of the Necronomicon, a commemorative edition of HP Lovecraft's Weird Tales, primarily part of the mythos. Amazon has used copies on sale: HERE

Without knowledge of the key elements of the mythos, the allegorical representations discussed in Cthulhu Cult and Liber A:O will not communicate ideals properly. I urge you to get familiar. The Idiot's Guide, or For Dummies series is crash course in some basics. It will get you started, but I highly suggest that you make these topics on your in depth study list, especially for their diversity and flexibility.

4. If you are unfamiliar with Satanism, Humanism, Buddhism, or Chaos Magic, then I strongly suggest you get familiar. The Idiot's Guide or For Dummies series can offer a crash course on the basics, but please do put these topics on your in depth study list. There is diversity and flexibility within all of these schools of thought.

5. Visit: www.cultofcthulhu.net, our official website. Review all areas of the site, which include essays written by Venger Satanis, an overview of beliefs, practices, and goals of the cult.

6. Visit our official forum, join, and peruse our archives. It represents several years of discussions directly related to the paradigm. The link to be found here:
Forum

7. Be active in social networking on our community website - This site. This creates fellowship, it also allows you to explore topics with fellow cultists, gain outside perspective from newcomers, and ask questions. You can directly interact with the Priesthood and the Ipsissimus. Please read blogs, visit forum discussions, and actively participate in groups.

8. Visit the Ipissimus Youtube Channel, there are videos in the archives, as well as new videos posted which address the paradigm and cult operations.
Found here:The Ichor

Your mentor is your guide. As you study, questions will arise, confusion will ensue, and the duty of the mentor is to offer you direction. All Priests of R'yleh are mentors; however as ascensions are announced there are mentors among other degree holders. The members who have ascended and hold titles, will also be found on our official website HERE.

We are developing other tools, to be used by initiates, these will be announced as they are made available. Should you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to post them to the forum, social network, or email a cult representative direclty.

What does it mean to initiate, and why would any person seek initiation within an organization?

When one initiates, it is the beginning, a facilitation of knowledge to acquire wisdom. Initiation is a rite of passage, from one phase to another: ascension. One might seek initiation within an organization, to determine progress outside of the sphere of your own mind. It's not about proving yourself to a person or group, but demonstrating how you have applied knowledge to acquire wisdom. This wisdom should facilitate progress in your own life, and by proxy, progress within the organization you feel a part of. This organization, should be providing something of value to you, to improve upon yourself, and you in turn will give something back by having ascended within.

There are many steps one takes in their initiation. Every marker is an indication of progress. We are human, so there will certainly be setbacks, it is the quick recovery and learning from those setbacks that is very much a part of initiation.

Each initiate should ask themselves:

1. Why would I seek initiation?
2. Am I in process of initiation and how would I recognize it?
3. Do I understand the paradigm I am initiating into?
4. Do I understand the goals of the organization I seek to initiate with?
5. Am I a user or a cultist?
6. Why is this distinction important?
7. How do I ascend?
8. Why should I be ascending?

Priesthood
Human-centered philosophies, absent of a religious authority (i.e. The Catholic Church). It attempts to explore human reasoning, without the use of myth, superstition, or religious traditions. There was a time, when human concern, was not separate from religious faith. In fact, there was Christian Humanism in the Renaissance Era. http://www.mb-soft.com/believe/txn/chrishum.htm>SEE: Christian Humanism

Today, Humanism deals more with human needs, recognizing that religion and religious life satisifes a human desire.

I chose http://www.spiritualhumanism.net/>SPIRITUAL HUMANISM for my own ordination, as its pretty flexible, and useful. I generally just exercise my ordination to peform marriage ceremonies or serve as a mediator.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_humanism">Secular Humanism, has been more prominent from the mid-20th century on, to counter religious fundamentalism. Essentially, it rejects superstition, religious dogma, and pseudoscience as a way of formulating moral creeds for making decisions for individuals or groups.

So how do we, reconcile Humanism & Religion, within the COC paradigm? If people really start studying, this question will arise at some point. I know it did for me. I was trying to determine, first, what type of Humanism made its way into the paradigm. I concluded that it took on a more generalized Humanism view, in that the 'religion' aspect served a human need, and a means to an end. In terms of reconciling that, with other portions of the paradigm such as Satanism, Buddhism, Fourth Way Teachings, Mythos and Chaos Magic - well, obviously Secular Humanism is out the window.

The COC is both a religion and a philosophy. Both, serve a human need, and are concerned with human affairs. Satan, is a symbol this can be expressed as well as exercised, the premise of conscious suffering and achieving godhood, can be extended through Buddhism, The Fourth Way is conscious work on oneself, so as not to get swept away by religious zeal without purpose, the Mythos & Magic work hand and hand as methodology. A little dab of Venger Glue and I think it all holds together rather well. Syncretism, at its finest, I could even argue a symbiosis of RHP/LHP, and that center line where they are nullified if there is too equal a balance. This is where the forumulas of the Madman Venger Satanis come in, the mad alchemist, who determines it's 3 parts Left, and 1 part Right. It gives the seeker something symbolic to refer to, to address his nagging I's from questioing the rationale out of use.

I see it as a useful tool, while others may see it as their life's religious devotion. Provided the end result is Autonomy, Power, and Self-Deification? Why people concern themselves with what others are doing with their own lives, fascinates me. If cultist A. spends every day worshipping at his handmade idol, as a religious devotion to his daily tasks, it is a focus tool to keep his eye on the prize. And let us all remember the prize shall we? AUTONOMY>POWER>SELF-DEIFICATION. I know it's difficult for some people to wrap their heads around, well, because they are not Occultists, they are pretenders. They pretend to know the power of magic, but they only pretend it in the company of sorcerers. In the company of their own I's, they don't know what it is they believe, they are often programmed what to believe, to include believing who they really are under all those masks.

Answer that question daily: Who am I?

Work at remembering yourself, and then, and only then, will you also remember what it is you are working towards.

We could say: Well, none of this stuff is real, it's all human psychology! What fun is that? Some self delusions are useful, for when we believe them to be true, they have a funny way of manifesting themselves into something tangible.

I could say, I believe myself to be free. What makes me free? The belief, or slaving to the harsh reality that we are not as free as we believe ourselves to be? Not free from influence, not free of control over our lives, and certainly not free to run off and live as G(g)od.

We have to work at being free, its not just going to be handed to us. How do we work, when we are so easily distracted? So easily comforted? I say provoke the system with all things weird, and make yourself a little uncomfortable. You don't believe in gods? Why not try it on for a while, as a means to an end? Think magic is hoakie, and for the feeble minded? How feeble can your mind become? Break down all those confortable walls that protect you from ever delving into the fantasy, imagining the impossible and then making it possible. Well, unless of course, its too uncomfortable for you, and sleeping in your machine is conforting.

Awaken, belief is reality.
