Lets toy with a possible game idea for the movie.
Here are some facts I want to know if you'll all agree with.
#1 Even the Duke doesn't drive down Broadway...Unless it's for a good reason. The Broadway gang is what looked like a couple hundred strong, while the Duke only drives around on average with three or four cars worth of soldiers.
#2 "The Crazies" do have their own leaders with a loose hierarchy. Tough & sane who mostly just bully people around & kill what ever unlucky homeless guy they want to eat. They are the Chiefs that control a few blocks of turf. Like packs of Jackals, they're are only a problem when their hungry, otherwise they don't care who roams their turf. The benefit of joining The Crazies is that you can go unnoticed for a long time & kill those with out friends for food. You need friends eventually, which is a must for survival since you do gotta sleep sometime.
The Duke never visits the Underground.
#3 "Other Gangs"-I imagine they have their own food growing with compound like bases(Like The "Ultimate Warrior" with yul brynner) that grow food & might be civil enough to have a scientist like Brain to make shit for them, gas, weapons, etc. They could hate the Duke & need Snake to do missions.
All these aspects make for an interesting political world with alliances that Snake could take advantage of. The game would probably be a lot like "The Warriors" game.
In the game he'd have maybe three days to accomplish his mission instead of 22hrs. He'd land like normal atop the building, meet some interesting characters like "Caby" & some others. Fight the punk rockers in the basement(doing that rape ritual) & force them to take him to their leader. Does a few missions & moves on. Then infiltrates "the Crazies" underground, makes a few friends, then has to take out the top guys in that bunch.
From their it's mostly about him making a rep for him self while meeting & exploring all the radical intricacies of the island.
He could even be flown in some help or weapons if necessary by state police choppers, a vehicle perhaps?
The game can end about the same I suppose, but who knows.
Anyway, besides telling me I got a lot of time on my hands:) Tell me what you think. It is a bit out dated, but the apocalypses theme still holds up today & it would be cool to see some humanity come out of that hell hole since not everyone would be bad in it.
Thanks.
Something entertaining to think about, but where do other powerful races/entities from movies n literature fit into the Cthulhu world/mythos? Where do they stand as enemies, allies, creatures he's meet etc?
Here's my list of movie entities:
1. Phantoms(1998)- The oil based, million/s year old monster with an Ego.
2. Star man(1984)- Immortal, Inquisitive, intergalactic tourists.
3. "Q" from Star Trek next Gen- The Bored, God like prankster.
4. The Borg(Star Trek)- Cybernetic, Cult from deep space.
5. Moth Man(2002)-Multidimensional, weirdo Psychologist.
6. Zombies(from any movie)- mindless, devourers.
7. Nexus Energy Ribbon Star Trek Generations(94)-Heaven inducing tear in the universe.
I think "Phantoms" might be to closely related to Cthulhu & the mythos in the first place to be on this list. It could easily just be one of any # of HPL's monsters from countless stories.
Star Man I think could have come across Cthulhu & the gang somewhere through his travels in the past. Would they have gotten a long since Star Man's race doesn't seem to need natural resources like Cthulhu does? Star Man doesn't have colonies & threaten empires like the Elder Things did.
Could Star Man have copied & infiltrated a R'lyehian to check out the city, try Cthulhu's version of apple pie lol?
When "pick up day"came around would Cthulhu try to shoot down the mother ship? Or just be annoyed since he's met the Star Man people before?
What would a fight be like between the two races?
Star Man would make an interesting character in the mythos history.
Well that's all that comes to mind for now. Keep the creative slime rolling.
A friend of mine surprised me when he told me he had never seen "Terminator", He's 26 yrs old & I demanded him to view it.
We drive to the mall & go to "Sun Coast" video (a respected chain that sells movies, posters, memorabilia etc, Go home & turn it on. Within minutes of the opening I could tell something was wrong, the audio was off. I ignored the first sounds that were out of place & waited to see if it was just the opening. NOPE!
Every gun sound was augmented in the film to sound more futuristic, pew pew pew instead of blam blam blam. Even the club scene where the terminator almost spots Sarah suddenly gets a new sound added to the back ground as if to make it more dramatic, ends up fucking up the main song so bad that I had just had enough.
My friend yells "what the fuck!" when I get up & turn it off. I say "You've been screwed man, do you still have the receipt?"
After explaining the situation to him he understood perfectly what I was saying & agreed to take it back. In the end I had to rent a fucked up VHS version for him to watch just to get the film in its purity. I thought this was just an unfortunate, random experience but not so.
Years latter I got Net flicks & I see "Terminator" is available. HOLY FUCKING SHIT its the same damn thing with the stupid Power Rangers sound effects machine ruining the film again.
So I start looking on you tube at videos & MY GOD a few are on there as well.
For our younger members I bid you warning that you can be betrayed & not see something they say it is. NO warning on the DVD or nothing, no special edition, no remastered title on it nothing. I'm bringing this up as a crusade I'm on to have this knock off, piece of shit banned for forever more. Please leave our movies the way they were made & don't try to add your revolutionary new Voltron sound effects to an already masterpiece!
Thank you.
